Position
Responsibilities: |
|
The primary role of Market Research and the Market Research Director is to contribute to long term profitable growth by:
- Being a strategic and influential partner to all key stakeholders in both the Area and Category organizations
- Providing independent strategic insights and direction to the organization (area,and category) based on a deep holistic consumer understanding
- Embedding the consumer at the heart of all decisions
- Demonstrating thought leadership in research technical expertise and application to business
- Providing in depth consumer understanding through state of the art, cost effective, research methodologies applied consistently across markets
- Develop and apply consistently standardized market reading data across categories and geographies
- Ensure rapid and easy access to consumer and market research data across those areas of the organization where they are needed
- Develop research managers to their full potential as strong market researchers within their respective categories/ coverage
- Harnessing and managing core supplier relationships within NA/ANZ and globally to ensure full value add and excellent delivery of outputs
- Be a key influencer in driving the market research agenda
- Category coverage: Healthcare, and Food
Scope of Role:
- Reporting to the Global Head of Market Research, this role is responsible for building a key strategic partnership with the core decision makers of the business in order to drive, develop and execute the business strategies. The role contributes to the growth of the business through a deeper understanding of the consumer which is in turn used to support and influence category/brand strategy. While the role covers NA/ANZ, it is imperative the impact is felt globally.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Provision of Strategic Consumer Insights: become a true business partner by providing strategic insights based on an independent, holistic consumer understanding that will drive business growth; proactively develop a deeper understanding of consumers and drive the future company direction.
- Data Accuracy and Integrity: ensure timely delivery of highly accurate data ( e.g. market shares) that allow company to make sound business decisions.
- Market Research Budget Accountability: ensure all the information needs are covered within the parameters of the budget set in plans 2009.
- Supplier Management : ensure strong and highly accountable supplier partnerships are forged so can fully leverage the value added impact of its partners.
- Trends Identification: generate foresights from in-market trends and competitive trends and understand the implications for growth.
- People Development: develop high calibre and highly strategic team members that continue to impact the business in their respective categories.
- Market Research Leadership: Is a proactive member of the Global Market Research Leadership Team in driving the market research agenda aimed at continually improve the MR organization's impact and contribution to the business.
Key Challenges:
- Continuous improvement of value added deliverables for internal customers and added value to RB business as a whole.
- Managing multiple and complex projects and multiple teams and stakeholders at any one time.
- Constantly having a personal impact and influence across the whole spectrum of internal clients.

Qualifications
Significant and proven experience in the client side particularly in heading up a market research/consumer insights division
Extremely proficient with the technical competencies --- with both qualitative and quantitative state of the art research methodologies; modelling and analytics
Proven track record as a top performer within a multi cultural environment
Multicultural and having worked, permanently or temporarily in different countries
Experienced in designing & implementing market research on a whole slew of categories
Very passionate with very strong consumer orientation
Proven leadership skills
Has experience on managing and developing high performing researchers
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Results oriented, entrepreneurial and self-motivating
Bias for action, capability to define, evaluate and take risks
Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills
Capable of building strong working relationships and motivating teams to deliver outstanding results with or without hierarchical relationships
Commercial understanding of corporate and operational business issues.
Strong understanding of marketing strategy, planning issues, budgeting, priority setting, project management
Understanding of P&L management
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to understand business strategies, tactics and implement measurable research plans
Ability to transform solid thinking into action (a thinker and an achiever)
Excellent communication skills both written and oral (in English)
Strong intellectual curiosity
Appetite for exploring new and previously uncharted territories
Openness to change and ability to think out of the box
Excellent Presentation skills
