As part of the R&D team, the BM-Innovation will help develop growth platforms for the Games (Bicycle). This individual will lead consumer and customer research programs to develop key insights from which to ideate, will develop the business case for expansion into new segments, and will bring the plan to life through creation and management of new product development projects. This role will have high-level strategic interaction with senior management, and will require strong initiative and comfort with ambiguity in the pursuit of aggressive growth goals. The BM-Innovation will work closely with the line Brand Managers on both incremental innovations like line extensions or product improvements, as well as game-changing innovations like entry into new categories. As individual contributor and project leader on several diverse growth initiatives, this person will need great communication and teamwork skills, sound strategic thinking skills, deep experience with market research and forecasting, and comfort with financial analysis and project management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Develop growth roadmap for key Brands
  • Collaborate with VP/GM and Brand Managers to develop strategic plan and equity growth plan for Bicycle
  • Support R&D, Operations, Sourcing and other cross-functional team members to drive alignment to objectives and key strategies.
  • Set clear financial objectives for revenue and margin, and align senior management. Measure progress ongoing.
  • Maintain marketing innovation budget planning, management and delivery of goal.
Create innovation platforms for Bicycle Brands that drive revenue and profitability growth, and enhance brand equity.
  • Identify opportunities and potential growth spaces for our Brands, and develop business case to pursue further investigation.
  • Create and lead consumer and market research program to gain key insights to drive ideation.
  • Develop new product concepts, optimize with consumer and customer feedback, and validate financial opportunity.
  • In addition to NPD, also identify claim, channel, package, and business model innovation concepts to drive new growth.
  • Lead NPD project charter creation and support program manager / cross-functional project teams through key NPD stagegate steps
Drive alignment to innovation initiatives and lead their development through commercialization phase.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams for key NPD projects -- in collaboration with R&D team lead.
  • Develop all marketing elements of the new product proposition -- product specification, packaging, pricing, promotion, and channel placement, and validate these elements with consumers and customers.
  • Take accountability for incorporating voice of customer and the Sales team in innovation plans to ensure retailer needs are met and opportunistic NPD opportunities can be delivered quickly, effectively and cost-efficiently.
  • At each stagegate milestone, deliver strategic and financial summary and recommendation to senior management.
  • Maintain clear, direct accountability for pipeline revenue value and timeline attainment per objectives set up front.

Experience  Required:    Education:

Requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing. Desire extensive experience with variety of consumer market research techniques, especially related to new product development, brand extension, and volume forecasting. Also should have comprehensive knowledge of administrative and project management functions such as planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling.


Experience/Knowledge:

Requires at least 5-7 years of prior marketing experience in the consumer packaged goods industry with track record of advancement.

Experience/Qualifications
MBA is preferred. Desire extensive experience with variety of consumer market research techniques, especially related to new product development, brand extension, and volume forecasting. Also should have comprehensive knowledge of administrative and project management functions such as planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling. Technical Role Competencies:
  • Interpersonal skills and business maturity to work effectively with individuals both internal and external to the company.
  • Proven track record in CPG new products, including ideation, concept development and validation, and leading projects through launch to market. Also desire broader brand marketing experience related to positioning, advertising, pricing, and retail execution -- all preferably in consumer packaged goods categories.
  • Results orientation and high degree of initiative, follow-through, and accountability. Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
  • Ability to utilize various personal computer programs within a LAN environment, including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and database software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, as well as to analyze problems and make independent judgments to initiate corrective action and resolution.
  • Ability to bring creativity to program design and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in financial analyses.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Strong task and detail orientation, awareness of urgency in communication, while displaying diplomacy in day-to-day interactions.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written. Must also develop and deliver high-impact presentations at Senior Management level.
